Child Studies Degree
Associate of Science Degree: Early Childhood Education
41 to 44 UNITS
2007-2008 Academic Year

To be awarded an AS Degree in Early Childhood Education, a student must complete 41 to 44 units in Child Studies coursework including completion of one Certificate of Proficiency Program and one of the Specializations, plus the general education units required for college graduation.

Completion of one Certificate of Proficiency Program:

Early Childhood Certificate of Proficiency 30 units
Primary Education Certificate of Proficiency 30 units
Early Childhood Special Education Certificate of Proficiency 30 units
Family Development Certificate of Proficiency 32 units
Completion of Specialization:
Specialization     Units     
Program Director 11 to 12 units
Communication and the Arts 11 to 12 units
Assessment and Documentation of Children's Learning 11 to 12 units
Culture and Diversity 12 units

Completion of General Education graduation requirements
