New Certificate Options
Kitchen and Bath Design Certificate The Interior Design Department has worked with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) to develop the Kitchen and Bath specialty within the Interior Design curriculum. The collaboration with NKBA provided support in the development of this curriculum. The department has received a preliminary endorsement, under review by NKBA, which adds status to the program. This certificate will provide students with more basic design skills while giving them an alternative way of completing their education.
Computer Aided Drafting and Design Certificate This certificate was created as part of a series of three new certificate programs to provide alternative paths for students to choose to best fit their skills in the area of Interior Design. Currently, employers are looking to hire students with training in Computer Aided Drafting and Design. Since Interior Design, as a discipline, relies heavily on computers and Computer Aided Design, this certificate will provide students with better basic drafting and design skills as well as transfer skills.

Facilities, Planning and Design Certificate The variety of positions available in Facilities Planning and Design is a testimony to the need for employees in the field of interior design. Several of the Interior Design Department's instructors have extensive experience in this area. Students pursuing the Interior Design advanced certificates have acquired the skills needed to pursue a career in Facilities Planning and Design as the coursework teaching these skills is already developed within our program. To acquire this certificate, students have to take only two classes beyond the Interior Design certificate requirements. This certificate also addresses the professional Interior Designers who want to reorient their career from a practice in other specialized settings towards a practice in Facilities Planning and Design.
A certificate will be awarded to those students achieving a grade of C or better in the major requirements listed above. Questions about Career Programs? REVISED July 22, 2008 |
