Summary of meetings & events
Teachers of Tomorrow Club Information Sheet September 26,
2002
Goals Club database has 104 members (Yea!!!)
SCTA memberships ________
CAEYC/NAEYC memberships: _______
Readings at local schools: 1 scheduled
Conferences/Activities: 4 scheduled none attended yet Textbooks: We are building a textbook lending
library. At the end of the semester
please remember to donate your old textbooks to the club.
Our goal is to have enough textbooks that club members will no longer
have to spend money on books. Leadership: There is still time to submit your
paragraph to run for a leadership position. We will be having elections very
soon for club officers. Attached is
a list of positions available. No
experience is necessary so don't be shy!
This is a good way to learn new skills.
The advisors and past officers will help you along - all it takes is a
commitment interest in serving the club, and an investment of time.
This is also a great way to add to your portfolio.
Just fill out a club registration form and submit a 35-word paragraph to
include on the ballot. Committee
Member: During our recent leadership
retreat/meeting we created several goals for the upcoming year, and started to
create a few committees. To be considered an active member of the club you will
need to belong to at least one committee.
Even if you are a "web" member, you can still participate
through the web page and emails. · Membership Committee · Development Committee · Meeting Committee · Fund Raising Committee · Community Service & Partnering
Committee · Resource Committee · College Connections & Activities · Executive Committee (For the officers
of the club) * Europe or Australia Big Trip Committee Lapel
Pins: Some of the club members shared at a
recent club meeting that they would rather wear lapel pins instead of T-Shirts.
I received a quote and layout for Pins.
We will vote 9/26/02 at the meetings. Master
Plan For Education: We are meeting in the WVC parking lot
near AAS50 bright and early Friday Morning and car pooling to this conference.
We will write-up a summary of this event. CBEST
Test Prep: We all are supposed to be taking the CBEST test, yet none of us ever
seem to have the time to get around to it.
So, what do you think about schedule all of us to take the CBEST in
December? We can plan some CBEST
Test Prep meetings (The off Thursdays). Many
people need to take the test several times before passing so we might as
well start now. Student
Leadership: Our goal is to have 20 club members
attend the leadership conference in November because it will be held in Santa
Clara this year. Last year it was
held in Southern California. Many
of us have talked about staying at the hotel to be near the action and have more
time to visit the hundreds of other future teachers that will be attending.
We could squeeze 4 people into a room (2 double beds) or even more if
someone wants to sleep on the floor. The
costs would not be very much
