Benefit to the
College:

“Celebrate Your Future” Conference at SJSU April 20, 2002, WV had one of
the largest student representations.

is one of the first California Community Colleges to have a future teacher
club on campus.

club provides opportunities identical to teacher clubs at 4yr. CSU, UC and
Private Universities.
|
 | More
than sixty WV college students have been empowered by the growing community
of future teachers. |
 | Club
succeeds in leveling the playing field – by providing the opportunities
for professional development, classroom experiences, service opportunities,
and leadership opportunities here at the Junior College Level. |
Teachers of Tomorrow Membership was chartered February
21, 2002. Since that day we have
recruited students, created a niche on campus and in the community and grown to
include more than sixty West Valley Students.
The TOTC have fulfilled our founding four (4) founding elements of our
mission statement

Announcements:
June 2002 - NEA student leadership conference in Texas
We have a scholarship if someone wants to go. Contact Mae as soon as
possible.
August 4-9 2002 - SCTA/CTA/NEA - Summer Institute UCLA
Issues will be an integral part of the four strands:
Negotiations and Finance; Instruction and Professional Development;
Communications; and Community College Association. Below are links, fees,

November 16-17 2002 - Fall Leadership Conference - Santa Clara
The SCTA members established this conference to help all
SCTA members acquire leadership and organizational skills needed not only while
SCTA club members ---- but also as a teacher. This conference
is mandatory for all club officers --- and future officers. Early
registration is only $15.00. This conference fills up fast --- so we
need to register as soon as possible. Our goal is to have the
largest contingent there!!!
January 24-26 2003 SCTA/CTA Good Teaching Conference Burlingame
Weekend of classroom management techniques, curriculum,
learning styles and other topics of interests to new teachers. This
conference is designed for professional teachers --- but SCTA members are
invited to attend.... (At a significant discount!).
