Conductor and Music Director of the South Bay Youth Orchestra Peter Susskind is a native Briton educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, and at the Royal College of Music in London. He was Assistant Conductor of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra from 1984 to 1986 and also Music Director and Conductor of the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. From 1989 he directed and ran the San Jose Symphonys Youth Orchestra, until 1994 when he formed the South Bay Youth Orchestra. He has had a distinguished career conducting subscription concerts with the San José, Youngstown, Marin and San Francisco Chamber Symphonies. He has also appeared with the Minnesota Orchestras Sommerfest, the Honolulu Symphony and the Conservatoire Orchestras in both Saint Louis and San Francisco. He has also conducted widely in England, Czechoslovakia, Korea and has appeared at the Musikverein in Vienna with the Tonkünstler Orchestra. He has acted as conductor and music director for the Berkeley University Symphony Orchestra and is a frequent guest speaker for the pre-concert lectures at the San Francisco Symphony.
