This program provides one-on-one instruction for students who
care to register for 1/2 unit in order to improve their writing skills.
We will assist students with any kind
of writing they would like to learn, in any subject. However, priority is given to students registered for English
classes. Students may register at any time during the semester, but in order to earn 1/2 unit, the student must
complete 20 hours of work in the Writing Skills Lab, for which they earn a grade of credit or no credit.
Each week the students have a regular appointment for one half hour of instruction and are they assigned independent work to
bring to their Writing Lab instructors the following week. With permission from their English instructors,
students are able to work on essays they are writing or revising for their English classes.
Students may do their independent work during the hours the lab is open. Call for lab hours.
Writing Lab students are allowed free access to the Computer
Assisted Writing Lab (CAW) in order to use the computers to write their papers. Our courses are 8 weeks
long, so students may take the course twice in one semester, and they may take the course four times for
credit. Writing Skills Lab is listed in the Schedule of Classes under "English".
The Lab is located in the Library between the Audio Visual Department
and the Reading and ESL Skills Labs.
