Training

Tutors must complete Tutor Training.

Why should I be a tutor?

You can change how a student feels about a class:

sad to happy faces

Do you have a sincere desire to help others?
Are you able to communciate effectively?
Do you have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5?
Do you have a 'B' or better in the subject you wish to tutor?

If you answered yes to all of these, then we invite you to apply for a rewarding position as a tutor with us.

Here's a partial list of some of the rewards for being a tutor:

  • Help others.
  • Enhance your knowledge of the subject. (The jury is still out on whether or not tutees learn more than tutors during a tutoring session.)
  • Develop and improve your communication skills.
  • Learn how to become a more organized student.
  • Increase your confidence by facing and defeating challenges.
  • Gain experience in a leadership role.
  • Earn "brownie points" good for applying to universities or future jobs.
  • Work on campus, close to classes (talk about a short commute!).
  • Earn some extra $$.
  • And many, many more...
  • Yana says that; "tutoring changed my world".

Even with an M.S. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) she was not too advanced or impatient to help our struggling students. She really enjoyed tutoring.

So how do I become a tutor?
