There is still time to RSVP to participate in the Graduation/Transfer Ceremony. Fill out the RSVP form at A&R, the Transfer Center (Counseling Bldg.) or Student Development (lower offices next to the Bookstore in the Campus Center) by Thursday, May 8, 2014. Make sure to provide an accurate email address.

    • 3:00 pm - Graduate & Transfer Student Line-up at Admissions & Records

    • 4:00 pm - Ceremony at Applied Arts & Science Lawn

    • Celebration Immediately Following Ceremony @ Campus Center/Viking Grove Complex

  • Commencement Day Details:  (May 22, 2014)

    Free Parking:

    FREE on Commencement day, no parking permit needed for the public.

    Guest Seating:

    Guest seating will be available beginning at 2:30pm on a first-come; first-serve basis in front of Applied Arts & Sciences. Please be advised that the rows of chairs directly in front of the stage are reserved for our transfer and graduating students as well as faculty and staff. Chairs behind the roped off areas are open for general seating. We do have disabled seating for those who need this accommodation and will be marked as such. Guests should pre-arrange this with Mike Scaletta from DESP by calling (408) 741-2453 no later than Monday, May 20th, 2014.

    Photographer:

    A professional photography company will photograph each student participating in the commencement ceremony.  You will receive an email from the photographer approximately 72 hours following the ceremony and can purchase additional pictures directly from the company.  The company is called "Grad Images." www.gradimages.com

    Step 1-Check-in:

    Participants should arrive to check-in by 2:30pm wearing their cap and gown. You will be given your RSVP information card at the check-in stations set-up by last name. Please do not bring any valuables with you at this time. You will receive a printed program as you check-in.

    Note: If you are transferring and have RSVP'd with the Transfer Center, you will be receiving a “white stole” during check-in.

    Tassels are worn on the RIGHT SIDE of your cap. Two lines will be formed.

    Step 2-Line-up:

    Line-up is at 3:00pm. Once you have checked in and have your information card, please proceed to the line-up area located around the corner from check-in and between Counseling and Business buildings. The order of the line-up is as follows:

    (1) Transfer Only (Blue dots)

    (2) Certificate candidates Only (Green dots)

    (3) Certificate & Degree candidates (Yellow dots)

    (4) Degree candidates Only (Red dots)

    Attention all Transfer Students:

    If you are transferring and receiving a degree or certificate, you should line-up and sit based on your degree or certificate accomplishments. If you are transferring only and not receiving a degree or certificate, you will be seated in your own designated area.  In addition, since you will not be wearing a cap or gown, the desired attire is “dressy casual” (i.e., a black dress or black shirt and slacks).

    Step 3-Processional into the ceremony @ 3:40pm:

    Your line will be led by faculty marshals and staff ushers who will lead you into the ceremony location. Stay in a straight line as you proceed into the ceremony. You will need to find your chair in your row quickly. If you want to sit with your friends, in the line-up area you should make sure they are either in front or behind you in the line, NOT in the line across from you. The two lines will split off once in the ceremony site and you will not be able to move seats. You will walk through the faculty/staff tunnel down the center aisle. Once you are in your row and have found your seat, PLEASE REMAIN STANDING UNTIL OUR COLLEGE PRESIDENT, MR. BRAD DAVIS ASKS YOU TO BE SEATED.

    Step 4-Presentation & Announcement of our Students:

    When it is your rows’ turn to walk across the stage, your faculty/staff leader will ask that you exit your row and form a line under the colonnade in front of the AAS building. A picture will be taken of you shortly before you proceed up the ramp. Please hand your information card to the readers at the bottom of the ramp of the stage. They will confirm with you the pronunciation of your full name. When your name is called, proceed up the ramp and collect your degree or certificate holder and/or transfer scroll with your left hand and shake hands with the dignitaries with your right hand. You will then have your picture taken with President Bradley J. Davis, J.D. and then you will proceed down the ramp for another picture and then be directed to return to your seat.

    Step 5-Recessional out of the ceremony and to celebration @ Campus Center:

    At the conclusion of the ceremony, you will be asked to turn your tassel to the left side of your cap by Saratoga Mayor, Emily Lo. You will be led out of the ceremony down the center aisle by your faculty/staff leader and should keep walking in your line until you have walked back to the Campus Center for the free reception-celebration. DO NOT STOP! Your family and friends will meet you at the Campus Center immediately following the ceremony.
