Process for High School Students
Interested in Articulation to West Valley College

Articulation with West Valley means that your high school teachers have met with WVC teachers in Computer Applications, Digital Media, Internet Services and Court Reporting programs and determined which of the high school classes have similar objectives and content. To received college credit for these courses:

  1. Talk to a teacher or high school counselor to see if there if you can qualify to obtain college credit by taking one of the high school courses.
  2. Take the high school course or courses and complete the course with a grade of "C" or better.
  3. If you have received a "C" or better grade upon completion of the course, ask your counselor for a Certificate of Articulated Course Completion form. This form contains the name of the course, the grade, the length of the course, the date completed and the equivalent college course.
  4. After enrolling at West Valley College, declare a major in the appropriate program.
  5. Upon completion of 12 college units, take the Certificate of Articulated Course Completion form to a college counselor who can assist you with obtaining credit on your college transcript.
  6. In addition, if you take classes at the College while you are still enrolled in high school, these courses may be counted both for high school credit and credit at the college. You should discuss this option with your high school counselor. Tech Prep courses as well as other courses may be counted in this category.
