What is the CETC?

(California Educational Technology Collaborative)

The CETC is your connection to statewide technology resources. It fosters collaboration between the CCC system wide technology projects and their strategic partners and places them into one collective area known as the CETC. The Collaborative's vision intends to maximize the effectiveness and reach of technology in education. The @ONE Project

 
  • @ONE provides educational technology resources to California Community College faculty and staff, providing you with several opportunities to enhance your technology skills.

  • @ONE Scholars program supports research on using technology to improve student learning in California Community Colleges.

  • Distance Education Courses that allow you to spend less time on mundane tasks and more on providing exemplary education and support? They have a spectacular line up of free classes for you each semester! Trainings are one-hour lunchtime desktop seminars or multi-week online courses – pick what works best for you. Topics include technology fundamentals, technology-enhanced instruction and multimedia.

  • Hands-On Technical Institutes - on-site technology workshops

  • Self-Paced Courses & Streaming Videos on Demand allow you to view materials on your schedule and at your own pace.  These workshops have been especially designed for "Just in Time" learning.  Take control.  You can take just what you need or run through the whole training.

  • Training Materials Library - These free, downloadable training materials and online tutorials can assist you with teaching technology applications, or help you to brush up on your own skills.  To make it easy for you to use the materials or tailor the material to your specific needs, all materials are formatted in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word - for easy editing and sharing with students and staff.  Registration is required.

  • Provides high quality web conferencing technology and services in support of meetings, collaboration, and e-learnoing environments.

  • CVC Virtual Campus Catalog - Through the maintenance of an online distance education program and course catalog, CVC also supports other regionally accredited higher education institutions in California.

  • CVC Professional Development Center - Available information excerpts from current news stories, essays and opinion pieces, tips for teaching online and “courselets.”

  • Merlot Project - The mission of the MERLOT Project (Multimedia Education Resource for Learning & Online Teaching) is to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning by expanding the quantity and quality of peer-reviewed computer-related learning materials that can be easily incorporated into courses.

CCCSAT Network for Satellite Broadcasting

 
  • Provides Faculty satellite television programming including instructional resources and professional development training.

  • Helps to facilitate and coordinate the work of the CCC system wide technology projects by:
    - disbursing funds,
    - generating and managing contracts,
    - providing listserv and Web site hosting services,
    - conducting technical evaluations,
    - supporting the security efforts of the CCC system

  • Technology grants research and support - Grants research and consulting provided to complement the efforts of anyone pursuing technology and technology-related grants for the CCC

  • Listserv hosting - Listserv is a free, customizable, secure, and spam-free e-mail list or communication channel

  • Web site hosting - Secure server space is available to host Web sites of CCC system wide and regional organizations.

  • System wide technology newsletter "TechEDge" - Free CCC technology newsletter that also serves as a promotional vehicle for any/all system wide or regional technology projects or events.

Educational Technology Collaborative

 
  • Offers an array of technology tools and resources. Most are free to administrators, faculty, and staff of the California Community Colleges.

  • CETC brings together all of the CCC systemwide technology projects and their strategic partners into a single group, allowing the individual projects to remain autonomous, while giving the new group a single-project focus.

  • Strives to maximize the effectiveness and reach of technology in education. The vision includes a commitment to more effectively manage and share resources, reduce duplication of services, and increase funding opportunities.

  • Focuses on outreach to faculty and staff who may benefit from the services it offers. From this focus, the Technology Ambassador Program has formed.

  • Helps Automate admission and application processes

  • Enables application customizing with college logos and graphics, as well as supplemental questions and announcements

  • Allows colleges to establish immediate email dialogues with applicants that are automated, proactive, and tailored to individual students’ needs.

  • Provides information about every one of the 109 community colleges in California including location, programs offered, enrollment criteria, and student services such as orientation, counseling, child care, financial aid and transfer centers.

CCC Clearinghouse

 
  • The California Community College Clearinghouse is an information system designed to provide users with ready access to an extensive body of education-related data.

  • The primary focus in recent years has been accumulation of grants and course information.

  • The grants section of the Clearinghouse website contains both archive and current information about various competitive grants submitted to the Chancellor’s Office from 1998 to 2002. It is designed to assist users by providing guidelines for effective grant writing and provides valuable information of grant outcomes. Additional resources including contact information is available to the user should more detail about a specific grant is required.

  • The Approved Programs Applications and Courses section of the Clearinghouse website includes programs reviewed and approved by the California Community College, Chancellor's Office from 1996 to the present. It is designed to assist faculty and staff in preparing program applications. To facilitate the exchange of information among those preparing proposed program applications, each application includes contact information about the person who prepared the submission.
