This web site is designed to provide instructors and staff at West Valley College with valuable resources and web links to help them become more effective educators.

The Virtual Teaching Resource Center highlights various services and facilities available on campus:

Audio Visual equipment on campus is available through the TV Operations area. They will respond as quickly as possible to your request for equipment or assistance with equipment operation. AV equipment available on the West Valley College campus includes the following:

   
 
  • classroom television monitors
  • VCRs to play back VHS format videotapes
  • VHS camcorders for videotaping in and out of the classroom
  • lighting kits, tripods, microphones
  • slide projectors
  • overhead projectors

The following services and facilities are also available through the TV Operations area:

  • video taping of events
  • video editing
  • video dubbing including VHS, SVHS, 3/4” U-matic, Mini and full size DV
  • videoconferencing
  • off-air satellite recording
  • interactive learning classroom

NOTE: Special video production services require you to fill out a TV/Video Production Request Form available through Scott Ludwig.

Instructional Development Services at West Valley College provides courseware design and media production services. Design services are available to assist faculty and staff in the following areas:

   
 

Course Design and Instructional Development for on-campus or online courses is available on campus for instructors and staff to produce new courses or revise older ones. Help is also available in the design and development various types of media or other instructional materials for the classroom. Services include

  • new online course development including the use of the District's ANGEL course management system
  • development of behavioral objectives, greensheet syllabi, course outlines, and all related instructional media
  • design and production of instructional multi-media and related materials
  • web design and creation of course homepages and other instructional web resources

A full range of services are available to facilitate the production of instructional materials for classroom or web use including the following:

  • creation of original artwork and graphics for class handouts, lab manuals etc.
  • web page design including faculty or course homepages
  • instructional web pages and other related student resource web sites.
  • desktop publishing – course handouts, booklets, lab manuals, flyers etc.
  • multi-media productions including video instructional programs
  • PowerPoint presentations for classroom or conferences
  • audio recording of narrations, language lab tapes, auto-tutorial productions etc.
  • production of 35 mm transparencies
  • digital scanning of photos or slides for PowerPoint classroom use
  • video production design for instructional and promotional videos
  Media production equipment is available on campus for instructors and staff to produce various types of media for the classroom. Technical assistance is also available to help faculty and staff create their own instructional materials. Available equipment and materials include:
  • computer flatbed scanner and slide scanner for digitizing images
    • located in the Technology Center
  • dry mount press for mounting pictures, charts and maps etc.
    • located in darkroom by the ILC office in the library annex
  • photographic copy stand - creates 35mm slides/prints from books or magazines
    • located in darkroom by the ILC office in the library annex
  • slide duplicator – produces one-to-one copies of existing 35mm slides
    • located in darkroom by the ILC office in the library annex
  • laminator – plastic covering on both sides of your charts, pictures, maps, 25" max
    • located in technical processing in the library next to the media circulation desk
