A certificate will be awarded to those students achieving a grade of C or better in the major requirements listed above.

Interior Design Fider Accredited (Advanced Certificate)

FIDER (The Foundation for Interior Design Education Research) accredits interior design programs within post-secondary educational institutions. The Interior Design Program at West Valley College offers the only California community college based advanced certificate accredited by FIDER at the Professional Degree level.

To be awarded a FIDER accredited Advanced Certificate, a student must complete:

  1. Interior Design Certificate and Interior Design Advanced Certificate courses.
  2. A minimum of 30 semester credit hours of diverse university level liberal arts, sciences, and humanities. These units must be taken prior to or concurrent with required coursework for the certificate or degree. To petition for a FIDER Accredited Advanced Certificate, contact the department chair of Interior Design at the beginning of the semester.
