Good Teaching Conference

CTA Good Teaching Conference - San Bruno California 3/1/02 -3/3/02.

Wow - what a great conference!

The first day we met at 6:30 am and car pooled up.

We all attended the "WE CAN DO IT" seminar on classroom management and teaching skills. This class was packed with great information, insights, and a 1" thick binder of materials.

The next 2 days included numerous short seminars that covered a wide range of topics. Our group slip up to cover more classes. Most of us where able to pick up extra copies of the handouts - and have put them into a binder for all to see. We will provide time at the next TOTC meeting to share these classes and resource materials.

The Sunday speaker was Albert Einstein. He reminded us about the importance of creativity - and imagination.

1. Look beyond first right answer.

2. Think with pictures.

3. Allow time to think in chunks.

4. Sprint thinking is better than a marathon.

5. Simple, not simplistic.

6. Sleep on important decisions.

7. Entertain contradictory information.

This conference should be a must before any new teacher steps before a class.
