Everyone is invited to ET's End of the Year Celebration!
The ET End of the Year Celebration is an event for all re-entry students. We sincerely invite all of you to join us on Thursday May 8th from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the WVC Board Room. During this time when you are preparing for finals, it is great to take a break and feel good about your accomplishments while honoring peers who have reached specific goals.
It is a "huge" achievement to be an adult student who has returned to education. As an adult learner, your life may be full of commitments including employment, supporting children, nurturing a marriage or significant relationship, assisting with the care of aging parents, or attending to the needs of other family members and friends who may rely on your help.
Further, you may be struggling with a low- income or making extreme personal sacrifices, knowing that education will lead to a much better life for yourself and your family. For all these reasons and many more, the ET staff, your instructors, administrators, and the entire West Valley community is extremely proud of you!
During the ET event, students who are graduating, receiving certificates, transferring to other colleges or receiving scholarships or awards will be honored. Students who have completed the end of a course, semester or a successful year are also honored by everyone in the room. Your ET counselors, some of your instructors, administrators and other WVC staff members will be there to celebrate the fact that re-entry learners are the best students on campus!
After those receiving certificates, degrees, or acknowledgments of transfer are called forward, we will ask all re-entry students to stand as a group in order for the audience to express their joy and pride in your accomplishments. You will have the opportunity (only if you want) to publicly thank your counselor, ET staff member, a special instructor or anyone else who has supported your educational journey. Saying a few words of thanks is strictly voluntary and no one will be asked directly to speak.
Please feel free to bring children and other close family members or friends to join you. Along with specific honors, we will have great energy fun and refreshments with each other. Please contact us @ (408) 741-2022 if you want clarification or to ask a question about the celebration.
All of us in ET hope to see you on Thursday, May 8th. Sincerely, The ET Staff
