An examination of the major myths of western culture and its subsequent treatment in various literary genres. Recommended: ENGL 1A **/**** English 44: The Bible as Literature A literary analysis of the Old and New Testaments and their influence on language and literature. Recommended: ENGL 1A **/**** English 46: Contemporary American Multicultural Literature An examination of contemporary and modern American writers from, at least, three of the following groups: African American/Black, American Indian, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Chicano/Latino, European American and Middle Eastern American. Recommended: ENGL 1A **/**** English 47: Introduction to Poetry A study of the elements of poetry through the reading, analysis and discussion of selected poems. English 980A/B/C/D: Computer Assisted Writing A co-requisite lab course for ENGL 905. A self-paced , individualized program designed to enhance the writing skills developed in 905.
