Writing Skills Lab (Eng 975
A-D) - located in the library annex, next to the audio visual department
An individualized lab course in which a student
works with an instructor to develop writing skills for success in college
and career. Students work in all levels of writing competency, from learning
the parts of speech to mastering punctuation, from improving paragraph
structure to writing thesis statements.
To enroll: pre-register as for any other course
or pick up an add slip in the writing lab.
To earn credit: For 20 hours of work the lab,
you will receive 1/2 unit of credit. You may earn one unit of credit per
semester. (credit/no credit only)
Computer Assisted Writing Lab
(Eng 980 A-D) - located in the lower level of the library, across from
printing services.
The CAW lab works with the English Department to
provide a facility where all students may use computers to write their
college papers. The lab is also part of the regularly scheduled English
Fundamentals classes (Eng 905).
To use the lab: Purchase a disk and pay a lab fee
at the campus bookstore. When you present your receipt at the main desk in
the lab, you will be issued a contract and entered into the check-in
database computer system. Each time you use the lab, you will check-in at
the check-in computer and place your card on the display wall.
To enroll and receive credit for lab work: All
students enrolled in English 905 are concurrently enrolled in English 980A
for 1/2 unit of credit. Other students who want to use the lab for credit
may add a 980 section with an add slip and pick up assignments in the lab.
note: enrollment in English 980 is not required to use the lab.
