I am very passionate about photography. I have had this passion for almost thirty years. Teaching photography is all about sharing my passion and knowledge with others. I also like to think that my enthusiasm spills over to my students and makes them aware of how fulfilling photography can be. Not only from an aesthetic standpoint, but from a point of saying being able to look at your photograph and see it as something more than just an image captured on silver. In my over fifteen years as a part time and full-time instructor here at West Valley College, I have had many students go on to win numerous awards and pursue careers in photography. I believe that students get better the more they shoot. I spent almost fifteen years as an industrial and commercial photographer, and learned something new on almost every shoot. That is to say that I found a way of expanding on what I knew and applying it at the next opportunity. I am still learning today. I also believe that it is important for students to learn the craft of photography, to learn your tools and how to use them, also how to use and manipulate light to your advantage. The composition and artistic end will take care of itself.
