The Television Operations
Department and AV Support Services offer equipment, staff
assistance, and production facilities to support
instructional and college related activities. Services
include:
AV EQUIPMENT SERVICES TV Operations provides support for AV
equipment. We respond as quickly as possible to your
request but rely on your help to keep things running.
Make sure all equipment is plugged in and there is power
to the outlet. If a bulb is out, check inside the machine
for a spare or with the division secretary to see if
spare bulbs are available in the division office. If not,
call x2032 to describe the problem. If you borrow a piece
of equipment from another room to replace your non
functioning equipment please return the replacement piece
after your class is done. DAYTIME HOURS: TV PRODUCTION SERVICES NOTE: For production services please
fill out a TV/Video Production Request Form available
through Scptt Ludwig. Once completed and signed by your
department and division chairs the request will be
processed through this office and sent for approval to
the Dean of Learning Resources. Once approved you will be
contacted to arrange pre-production meetings and a shoot
schedule. VIDEO TAPE DUBBING
NTSC only - no PAL or SEACAM
FEES: Dubbing (does not include cost of tape stock)
TAPE STOCK:
These costs include basic labels and cardboard sleeves. Quantities of over 500 need to be taken to a professional dubbing house.
VIDEO TAPING Single camera event recording - TV Operations Staff are available to videotape college events. Upon completion of the taping you will receive one videotape copy. If additional copies are needed you may use our dubbing services. Multi camera studio and remote productions - TV Operations has a full production studio and remote production truck for multi camera onsite videotaping of College events.
VIDEO PRODUCTION Instructional and promotional videos - West Valley College has two producers on staff to work with Departments to produce instructional or promotional videos. Because of the time involved, these requests may not be able to be serviced immediately.
VIDEO EDITING AND GRAPHICS Non linear digital editing systems are available to staff, students and instructors in the Tech Center. Call x2666 for more info. There is also a TV Staff editing suite used to work with instructors. Scheduling edit times for this system is done through Scott Ludwig at x2031.
VIDEOCONFERENCING (this system is currently down and because of budget limitations it is uncertain when it will be repaired) The College operates a group videoconferencing system in the Interactive Learning Classroom, adjacent to the TV Studio. Videoconferencing allows for two-way, fully interactive audio and video communication to a growing number of local, statewide and national locations. Both point-to-point and multiple point connections are possible. The College has enhanced these capabilities with the addition of professional TV production and multimedia equipment. The room accommodates up to forty-nine participants for events ranging from meetings and seminars to class collaborations and semester-length instruction. To reserve time in the ILC make requests via Meeting Maker or by email to Scott Ludwig. Contact Scott Ludwig at ext. 2031 for more information.
