Hello Vikings,

Three items happening this week that didn't make it into the last update. Enjoy some guided meditation to help ease the stress you are feeling, join a town hall meeting for a discussion on unemployment insurance, and end the week with a virtual bingo game. Prizes!!!


 
This Week

Breath and Wellness for Students of West Valley - Every Tues. and Thurs., starting Apr. 30 thru May 21, 2 - 3 PM. Register once, attend one or all meetings.
Join Valerie Moselle for a twice-weekly somatic movement, breath work and mindfulness-based meditation class specifically designed to help you reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and strengthen respiration and immunity. Each class will include gentle pain-reducing movements, simple breathing patterns, and guided visualizations to help you relieve stress and enjoy optimal health during this challenging time for everyone. West Valley College Student Town Hall - Fri., May 1, 12:20 PM – 12:50 PM
Log on to a Zoom Call with Erick Serrato, a workforce expert, to get tips on how to access unemployment insurance benefits.  Ask questions and receive answers about the process, and learn about other updates to UI and federal stimulus checks.

Playlist Bingo - Fri., May 1, 3 PM - 4 PM 
Your Campus Activities Board is giving you the chance to test your music trivia and win cash prizes. Tune in to watch a professional comedian host and compete against up to 1000 other students from your school in this fast-paced, fun trivia game right from your home with your phone, tablet or computer. We provide a customized Playlist Bingo card for your device and participants mark off their played artists until they hit BINGO for a winner!

Student Government Election Candidates - Be a leader, get involved in student government. Complete the candidate application to be on the ballot for the upcoming election to represent your fellow students.

Returning Books, Calculators and Laptops to Library - The library will have limited access for students to return books, calculators and laptops to the library at the end of the semester. Please note that we will only be accepting returns and we will be practicing social distancing protocols.  We will not be open for other services (including studying). This is for everyone's safety. If you have library books, calculators or laptops or any other library material, please return them to the library during Mon., May 18 - Fri. May 22, 9 AM - 5 PM.

Policy Updates - View updates to Drop Policy, Pass/NoPass, Incompletes, and Financial Aid. 

COVID-19 Encounter Reporting Protocol - If you are a student and you have been exposed or you suspect you have been exposed to COVID-19, please utilize this protocol to report your situation.

Wi-Fi Hotspots Available On Campus - Wi-Fi hotspots are available in the Village Parking Lot 2 for students to use while maintaining social distancing requirements

Census Info - Now is the time to be counted. Make sure California, Santa Clara County, and your city receive the funding and resources that we deserve. Complete the nine-question 2020 Census Forms at my2020census.gov

Laptop and Wireless Hotspot Loan Program - The college is offering loaner laptops and wireless hotspots for students who don't have reliable access to the technology they need for their online classes. Apply now. 

Summer Class Schedule Online - The schedule of classes for our summer sessions is now available. You will also receive a printed copy in the mail. Visit the Student Portal to find your priority registration date. The Fall schedule is being revised and will be available soon, stay tuned.

Library Research Help Besides the Live Chat on the Library’s home page, students may complete the Research Request Form to receive assistance with finding information on your research topics.

Success Center Access WVC tutors online via Canvassee availability of tutors at Tutoring Schedule. Students must be registered in LRSV 110 #32224 in order to access this function—please register for this free, zero-unit course via the Student Portal. NetTutor, a free, off-site resource can also be accessed via any Canvas course. 

Disability and Educational Support Program (DESP) Online - If you are a student with a disability struggling in the transition to online learning, DESP can help.

Student Health Service Online Information, resources, and referral for medical and mental health concerns is available online during regular business hours.

TRiO Program Online - TRiO supports first-generation, low-income and disabled students.
