Course Description
This course continues the instruction in cross-cultural skills for immigrants and their families begun in NCIE 101. It provides instruction in English and cross-cultural skills for non-native speakers at the beginning-high level through speaking, listening, reading, writing, and building knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and American culture and civics. Lessons include concepts related to home, family, school, work, community, survival skills, daily living, civic operations, and authentic task-based activities. Students have the opportunity to further improve their cultural adaptation to the new cultural environment.
