Honoring Our Veterans Message

November 9, 2023

Dear Campus Community,

Tomorrow, we recognize and honor the millions of Americans who have served and continue to serve our country in the military. While Veteran’s Day is officially on Saturday, the college will be closed and all classes are canceled Friday, November 10 in observance of this important day. As you take time away from campus, please take a moment to appreciate all the freedoms we have in this nation because of the sacrifices of those who have worn the uniform.

Thank you to all Veterans at West Valley College for your service, selfless sacrifice, and dedication to our country. We value, honor you, and support you.

We hope that the campus community has been able to add to our wall of appreciation, located in the Campus Center, to extend kind and loving words to our Veteran community. Please, also, stop into the Lower Campus Center to visit our Veteran’s Resource Center (VRC).

The VRC is staffed by the Veterans Specialist, Academic Counselor and Peer-Mentors who are dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment where all military connected students thrive through academic success and personal enrichment. The VRC provides a communal space for veterans to study, socialize, connect with peers, and access resources to enhance their college experience.

In Remembrance,

President Jennifer Taylor-Mendoza, Ph.D.
