If a student has multiple awards in an academic year, only one award was counted.
Because associate degrees typically require twice the duration of certificates, they were assigned double the weight in this calculation. Accordingly, associate degrees were weighted as 1.0, and certificates were weighted as 0.5.
Only certificates consisting of 30 or more units were included, following Aspen’s definition of Completers per 100 FTES as the “number of students who earn credentials of one year or longer in length”.
If a student earned both a degree and a certificate in a single year, only credit for the degree was kept in the numerator.
Dually-enrolled students were excluded from the denominator (FTES count) since they are unable to earn a credential or degree.
Non-credit students were excluded from the FTES calculation.
Three year FTES average is the mean of the previous two years and the current year (i.e. 3 year FTES average 2024-2025 would be the FTES average for 22-23, 23-24, 24-25). For years that lack data, we calculated using available data (e.g., For 2017-18, only 2017-18 data was used. For 2018-2019, the average of 17-18 and 18-19 was calculated).
FTES includes the entire academic year (e.g., Summer 2024-Spring 2025).
