Most federal and state funds offered are contingent upon the availability of funds.
Financial Aid applications are accepted throughout the school year with a final filing deadline usually the 2nd Saturday in June of each year.
Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Pell Grant
Pell Grant: Awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a Bachelor's or professional degree.
Awards range from $609 to $5350. Payments are made twice per semester in most cases. To apply, complete the

Academic competitiveness Grant (ACG)
Academic competitiveness Grant (ACG): Awarded to Pell grant recipients.
Students must be enrolled in at least 6 units as a 1st or 2nd year student in a qualifying program of study and successfully completed a rigorous secondary school program.
Awards range from $750 to $1300. To apply, complete the

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG):
Available to students on a 1st come-1st serve basis and whose expected family contribution (EFC) is zero.
Students must be an undergraduate student and enrolled at least half time. Awards range from $100 to $500.
Payments are made once per semester. To apply, complete the
FAFSA ^.
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS)
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS): Provides jobs for students with financial need.
Jobs are 10-18 hours per week and students must be enrolled at least half-time.
Awards range from $500 to $3,500.
The vast majority of FWS jobs are filled at the beginning of the Fall semester and continue through the academic year.

Board of Governers Fee Waiver (BOGW)
The State of California provides to eligible community college students a fee waiver that
covers tuition, and 50% of the parking fee.

To apply, complete the Board of Governors Fees Waiver (BOGW) Forms ›
Eligibility for the fee waiver is determined immediately after submission of the application.
Alternatively, if the student has already completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid
FAFSA ^ and listed West Valley College to receive their application information, the Financial Aid Office will automatically evaluate the student for fee waiver eligibility.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, a student must be a California resident and meet one of the following three categories.
- Type A: (documentation required)
You or your family are receiving public assistance from the Aid to Families with Dependent Children or
Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (AFDC/TANF) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or have certification from the
California Department
of Veterans' Affairs ^. Supporting documentation must be provided.
- Type B: Your household income falls below certain State-designated levels.
- Type C: You have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid

CAL Grant B
CAL Grant B: A state program to assist low income/disadvantaged, first-year college students.

Chafee Grant
Chafee Grant: Awarded to students who are aging out of foster care or emancipated from foster care,
eligible for California Independent Living Program services, and between the age of 16-22. Maximum academic year award is approximately $5000.
