Business is about ownership wealth and we must have some way of determining whether a given business is achieving this objective or what it has to do to do better. This is where accounting and the accountant come in, to identify all financial transactions in which our business is involved, record these transactions in a standardized manner, and report the financial results and position of our business in a manner that complies with accounting principles and is understandable to anyone (employees, creditors, investors, auditors, etc,) who may have a need to understand how our business is performing.
