The Associate of Arts in Italian (AA in Italian) requires 20 units of major core courses, which provide students with a solid foundation of the Italian language and culture. The Associate of Arts in Italian includes the necessary coursework to transfer to a four-year university where students will have the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Italian. In order to obtain the degree, students have to complete the following core courses: ITAL 001A, ITAL 001B, ITAL 002A, ITAL 002B. Each course is 5 units.

To be awarded an Associate Degree, a student must:
- Achieve a grade of “C” or better in the major requirements.
- Completion of WVC or Cal-GETC General Education patterns. Students whose goal is to obtain a bachelor’s degree should complete the Cal-GETC General Education pattern.
- Complete additional degree-applicable units to meet the minimum 60-unit Associate Degree requirements.
