West Valley College is partnering with its on-campus food vendor, WM Café, and West Valley Community Services to provide two free food options for current students. WM Café is supplying box lunches on weekdays for students to pick up on campus. West Valley Community Services is distributing one grocery bag every week to current students at their Cupertino location.

West Valley-Mission Community College District Chancellor Bradley Davis and West Valley College President Stephanie Kashima teamed with the West Valley Office of Student Equity and Success, and the West Valley Office of Student Needs to fund and coordinate the food options.

“Students are facing unprecedented changes to their academic and personal lives during the shelter in place order. In normal times the college provides several services to help students with their studies along with financial support, housing assistance, and access to food. We’ve transitioned our courses and student support services like counseling, health services, and tutoring, to an online format but students continue to need reliable nourishment. These two programs help fulfill that need,” said President Stephanie Kashima.

Chancellor Bradley Davis recognizes the commitment to students shown by college staff and appreciates the partnerships supporting college efforts to feed students. “During times of crisis we see the best in people. Our dedicated staff is combining campus resources and their creativity to find ways to help our students during this struggle. Our on campus food services provider, WM Café, has stepped up to provide daily lunches to students in need, and our friends at West Valley Community Services continue their amazing work for their everyday clients and are now including our students as well. This is what ‘community’ is all about,” said Davis.

Students can get more information about the food programs and complete the required reservation forms by visiting the college website at westvalley.edu.
