West Valley College has launched its new Strategy and Equity Division, led by inaugural Vice President Andrea Vizenor. Introducing the division marks a crucial step in aligning college strategic priorities with WVC’s longstanding commitment to equity and student success. Vizenor brings more than 20 years of experience in building missiondriven partnerships across education, philanthropy, and workforce development. Most recently, she served as executive director of Strategic Initiatives and Economic Development for the College of San Mateo.

“I am excited to amplify voices, expand opportunities, and build bridges that ensure every student can accomplish their goals and every community feels safe and connected.”

Her leadership at West Valley will focus on strengthening relationships with donors, industry partners, K–12 districts, and transfer institutions — particularly in support of first-generation and multilingual students pursuing opportunities in high-demand fields such as healthcare, technology, and artificial intelligence.

The Strategy and Equity Division brings together key teams working in career education, dual enrollment, adult transitions, continuing education, and identity-based programs, fostering collaboration and innovation across campus. The division’s work will also expand engagement with families, cultural groups, and community leaders to cocreate initiatives that close equity gaps and increase access.

This is more than a structural change — it reflects a continued commitment to ensuring that every West Valley student thrives, achieves, and leads.
