Join Us for the West Valley College Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony

peace pole dedication ceremony

West Valley College and the Saratoga Rotary Club invite you to a special Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony on November 7, 2025 near the heart of campus, adjacent to Kirkorian Pavilion at noon.

The simple white, four-sided pole bears the universal message “May Peace Prevail on Earth,” inscribed in multiple languages representing the diverse cultures and voices that make up our community. Similar peace poles stand in more than 250,000 locations worldwide — from the United Nations headquarters in New York to mountaintops in Nepal — as symbols of hope, connection, and unity.

This meaningful event will include brief remarks from campus and community leaders, a moment of reflection, and the unveiling of West Valley’s new peace pole — a shared commitment to peace, inclusion, and understanding.

“Placing a peace pole at the heart of our campus serves as an empowering daily reminder to embrace and celebrate what unites us — our shared humanity and a universal wish for peace,” said Andrea Vizenor, West Valley’s Vice President of Strategy and Equity.

The Peace Pole Project began as a grassroots movement in Japan following World War II and has since become a global tradition, bringing together people of all faiths, backgrounds, and cultures to celebrate the oneness of our planetary family.

All are welcome to attend. Join us as we dedicate a lasting symbol of peace and unity at West Valley College.
