Join the West Valley College community March 24 as we applaud a historic milestone on our campus: the grand opening of the Wang & Qu Family Learning Resource Commons.
Scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m., the celebration will begin with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by an author event and book signing with novelist Aimee Phan, tours, and light refreshments.
Encompassing 59,134 square feet, our new on-campus learning hub offers students access to cutting-edge facilities including an expansive library, digital media center, TV and recording studios, a writing center, a tutoring center, and more.
“Equipped with leading technology, tools, and thoughtfully considered study areas and collaborative work spaces, the new Wang & Qu Family Learning Resource Commons represents one more way West Valley College sets up students to succeed and thrive academically and in their lives beyond campus,” said President Jennifer Taylor-Mendoza.
Complimenting the grand opening program, Phan will headline an author event and book signing. Author of the young adult fantasy The Lost Queen and the novel The Reeducation of Cherry Truong, Phan teaches writing and literature at the California College of the Arts. Her work has appeared in outlets from The New York Times to CNN.
The newly renovated LRC at West Valley is named in honor of Silicon Valley philanthropists Arthur Wang and Christina Qu in recognition of the family's longtime generous support of West Valley College programs, initiatives, and services, including an endowment established for future LRC needs.
