Course Description
In this course, students are introduced to works by diverse authors and major literary genres, developing close reading and analytical writing skills. Students also develop appreciation for and critical understanding of the cultural, historical, and aesthetic qualities of literature. This course reflects the department's commitment to examine works from diverse perspectives and help students develop their authentic voices. In this course, students develop literary analysis and critical thinking skills, proficiency in research skills and literary criticism, recognition of logical fallacies, and inductive and deductive reasoning, and skill in composing writing in MLA style that synthesizes multiple sources. This course used to be ENGL 001B.
