Course Description
This course introduces students to basic rock climbing skills in an outdoor setting with hands on practice and classroom lectures. Students have the opportunity to learn the basic principles of rock climbing, rappelling, knot tying, safety, necessary gear, anchors, ropes, and more. The second half of the course builds upon those skills as students are guided to apply the basic rock climbing skills to the next level of professional top-rope guiding and leading others in this enjoyable sport in a safe manner. This course helps prepare students for the Top Rope Guide Certification course from the Professional Climbing Guides Institute (PCGI).
