SOCI 020: Sociology of Race and Ethnicity

Course Description

This course provides students with analysis of race and ethnicity by addressing global dynamics, cross-cultural comparisons among U.S. minorities, including Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, and/or Latina and Latino Americans, among other ethnic groups. The course focuses on social interactional patterns and social structures - including economic, political, educational, religious, and other social institutions - that address racial dynamics, racism, stratification, and inequality across the U.S. and globally. The course assesses efforts to promote racial harmony and solutions to address racial/ethnic inequality. Students are invited to examine historical, psychological, physiological, and/or sociological analysis of racial/ethnic dynamics, events, theories, and/or research.
