Course Description
This course examines the empirical analysis of family, marriage, dating, and mate selection through the focus of theories, perspectives, and research, with emphasis on the sociological approach. Historical changes are compared with the more current trends in family and/or relationship forms, problems, and functions. The course emphasizes the shaping of individuals'; behaviors and relates to larger societal structures/institutions and processes. In this course, the instructor readies students to describe and analyze the interplay of sociology and other factors or perspectives that play a role in family and relationship development.
