Biography
After taking a near decade break from education, I returned to West Valley College as a part-time student simply for the love of learning. After 8 years of going to school part-time, I earned my M.A. in Communication Studies from San José State. I love education so much that I transitioned from my career as a licensed optician to a full-time professor. I take such joy in having the opportunity to teach at both of my alma maters, SJSU & WVC. In my classes there is a strong emphasis on learning through practical application. We talk about the theory and then apply it through practice. My love for learning continues outside the classroom where I am currently learning a 3rd language and also pursuing my next belt in BJJ. My son Nicky is my most challenging training partner. My son Tyler and I have a goal of visiting all 50 states together. Finally, I would not be where I am without the love and support of my favorite person, Wendy Lu.
