Biography

I started my college journey, right here, at West Valley College! Initially, I was unsure what I wanted to study and I just happened to enroll in an accounting class (I must have been going alphabetically). I was immediately hooked on the subject! I went on to tutor Accounting (and Spanish and Statistics) at West Valley College's Tutoring Center until I transferred to UC Riverside where I later earned my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an Accounting Concentration. After graduation, I went to work in public accounting at a mid-sized accounting firm (now called Windes), there I specialized in taxation. While there I studied to pass the CPA exam -my favorite place to study was the library at Cal State Long Beach (go Beach!).

After earning my CPA license, I transitioned to private accounting and worked for Hyundai Motor America. At their national headquarters in Southern California, I specialized in financial accounting and later moved into financial forecasting, planning and analysis for the international company. I greatly enjoyed my time there -I have always loved cars so, it was great to combine my interest of accounting with the car industry. While at Hyundai, I decided to return to school to earn my Master's degree at UC Irvine (since it was just down the street:).

I also hoped to return to education and am so glad to be back at the institution that sparked my love for the subject I now teach. I could not have asked for a better campus, better colleagues, or better students!
