West Valley College has been named one of only four higher education institutions nationwide to receive the 2025–2028 FamilyU Seal, a prestigious national certification from Generation Hope recognizing colleges and universities that are leading the way in supporting student parents.
The FamilyU Seal celebrates institutions that go above and beyond to create family-inclusive campuses and foster cultures of belonging that empower parenting students to thrive.
“Being recognized by Generational Hope with the FamilyU Seal affirms West Valley College’s unwavering commitment to inclusive excellence,” said Dr. Jennifer Taylor-Mendoza, President of West Valley College. “We are deeply proud to support student-parents who balance academics, work, and family with extraordinary determination. Their success reflects the strength of our entire community and our mission to ensure every Viking has the opportunity to thrive.”
West Valley College provides a variety of resources and services to support our parenting students, including free childcare through our Child Development Center, basic needs support such as clothing, diapers and food through our Office of Student Needs, and family-friendly events through student engagement. Parenting students are also proudly invited to walk the stage with their children at commencement.
West Valley’s selection underscores the college’s ongoing investment in programs and resources that meet students where they are to ensure both their academic and personal success.
