President's Message

Dear Student,

Welcome to West Valley College! I am so excited that you are joining our college community or continuing your studies with us. The fall semester is a wonderful time to explore exciting opportunities along your educational journey.

An education at West Valley is all-encompassing. We provide a strong educational foundation for students seeking transfer to a four-year university, students who want to enter the workforce or skill up in their current jobs, and students interested in personal enrichment. West Valley offers a wide array of options in various modalities—online, in-person, or a combination of both.

You are part of a large community of support! Know that you are in a safe, supportive, and caring learning environment that strives to support all students in reaching their personal and academic goals. West Valley is part of the Caring Campus movement. Our outstanding faculty strive to provide transformational learning experiences; our staff will surround you with any support you might need; and your fellow classmates will not only become your closest friends but your greatest supporters—cheering you on as you challenge yourself in the classroom and beyond. Reach out when you need help. This is an amazing place to be, and we are all here to help you thrive.

We offer a variety of student resources on campus including free permitted parking on campus, a free new intercampus shuttle service for students to travel between West Valley and Mission College, a food pantry, Roots, A Food Sharing Program to Fuel Potential, to support all students and community members, as well as free childcare services for those who need it.

We also provide free grocery giveaways, free technology, and textbooks through our TNT (Textbooks n’ Technology) program in the library, free personal mental health counseling, free Wi-Fi hot spots, and emergency funding to support housing and other living costs for those who qualify. In addition, the West Valley College Foundation and Office of Financial Aid are dedicated to helping to support students in meeting their financial needs with scholarships and free tuition. Our Viking Promise Program provides two years of free tuition to students enrolled full-time.

While you are here, I encourage you to have fun, enjoy campus life, and get involved as much as you can. We have a variety of student clubs, activities, and on-campus events. With over twelve intercollegiate sports, you can usually catch a game and cheer on your fellow Vikings! And, as you may have noticed, our campus is a beautiful place to be. I hope it inspires your learning and serves as a haven amid the fast-paced world we live in.

West Valley College is here for you—with a community that will surround you with love, support, and a sense of family. We are so happy to have you. Welcome to the West Valley family!

Make a brighter day for yourself and all of us!
