Establishment

Established by Dr. Lydia Gloria Harris. In 1976 Dr. Harris moved to California and was hired by the West Valley – Mission Community College District and began her career in the Early Childhood Education Department. She designed and developed the programs at both colleges. She held various other important roles within the District and was honored as Teacher of the Year three times. Even after retirement Dr. Harris continues her dedication to public service. She is currently a member of the Child Abuse Council of Santa Clara County. Dr. Harris believes that the classroom should be a laboratory for learning where students are treated with dignity and are challenged and motivated to think and to express ideas. The endowment was established to provide scholarships for commendable students interested in pursuing higher education in early childhood education and reading.

Establishment

Established by: The Campbell Veterans Memorial Foundation’s vision is to honor and support all veterans, to raise awareness of their contributions and to provide support for their families. An integral key part of the foundation’s vision is to also provide scholarships. Under the guidance of Dr. Daniel E. Furtado, a scholarship program was created in 2014 to benefit Veteran students enrolled at West Valley College with a goal of graduating and earning a degree.
